Jewellery making classes, workshops, and experiences just outside the capital, Scotland
5 Week Masterclass - MID SUMMER
Over 5 weeks, learn different skills and make an item of jewellery you choose
All the details...
Explore the art of silver jewellery making with Scottish Silverworks. The workshops and classes are all designed in a way that you will experience techniques with easy to acquire tools so you can see yourself continue to create beyond the class should you so wish. This is perfect for a beginner who wants to delve into jewellery making differently, with more focus and time to hone specific skills and also someone more practised if they want to pick up a new skill and focus on finesse. WHAT DOES THIS WORKSHOP INVOLVE AND WHAT'S INCLUDED? In the 5-week workshop, you'll be introduced to the basics of metal work, with demos and written examples throughout. Then you will get to learn and practice various techniques of cutting, patterning, forming and joining metal using 'cold-connections' to go on to design and make a silver ring, brooch, necklace, or other small item. You will have access to base metal (typically copper or brass) to learn the skills and up to 7g of silver as part of the course. When we get to designing your jewellery, you may wish to purchase more silver, but we will also help you design the piece with the existing budget in mind. Each class will be one and a half hours long. By week three we will have the skills together for making an item from a choice of ideas or one you come up with yourself with the help of your jewellery tutor! WONDERING IF THIS IS FOR YOU? Sometimes a one-session class leaves you wanting more knowledge and experience. Workshops are where you will be able to really explore jewellery making a little more in-depth and have time to work on just one skill at a time to start to perfect your techniques and eye for detail. They're the best place to start as a beginner OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: Places are limited to 4 to maintain an intimate and focused environment, however, do get in touch if you would like a larger party and we can do our best to accommodate you!
